About Piano Lessons
My musical journey began at age 6 with piano lessons, and I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Music. My undergraduate studies focused on piano, while my graduate degree centered on Vocal Performance.
With over 25 years of experience teaching private piano lessons, I welcome students of all ages and levels. My teaching approach blends expert instruction with lightness, laughter, and patience.
If you are…
– A young adult preparing for college piano auditions
– An adult new to the piano
– Someone with prior piano experience looking to refresh your skills
Or if you’re excited to learn…
– How to read music and rhythms
– Proper keyboard technique
– A wide variety of piano literature
– How to achieve expressive, dynamic playing
Perhaps you’re looking to…
– Elevate your keyboard technique to the next level
– Improve your artistry and interpretation
– Learn efficient practice and memorization strategies
– Enhance your performance skills
I’m here to help you reach your goals.
Most students take 60-minute lessons once a week. For beginners, I use a range of tried-and-true piano method books, ensuring you’ll start reading music and playing simple songs from your very first lesson. As you progress, we’ll incorporate a variety of literature to keep lessons engaging and tailored to your interests.
Piano students will:
– Learn scales, cadences, and arpeggios in both major and minor keys
– Study music theory and the vocabulary of music
– Practice keyboard exercises such as Hanon, Czerny, and Heller
– Explore pieces that match their growing skill level
Of course, the key to success is consistent practice. Students who commit to regular practice not only progress faster but also enjoy the process more, as they experience the rewarding results of their hard work.
I offer piano lessons at my home studio located 1 mile south of the intersection of University Parkway and Honore Avenue.
From my Google Reviews:
“I took piano lessons from Martha, she is an excellent teacher. She provides
good tips and feedback on how to improve your skills! She is an amazing
singer as well. Her goal is to have her student excel!” – M.R.
I am happy to meet prospective students in person
or over Zoom to answer any questions you may have.
Prefer to take your piano lessons online?
In 2020, I stayed connected with my music students by teaching online. I felt that piano lessons worked well online! As long as I could see my student’s hands, I had all the information I needed.
I offer piano lessons online via Zoom, Whatsapp or Google Meet! This option is perfect for busy adults who don’t want to commute to a studio and would prefer to take their lesson from the comfort of their own home. I created a website just for this service. Feel free to visit me at GlobalPianoLessons.org for more specific information on getting started with piano lessons online.
