About Voice Lessons

While opera and classical music are my primary performance areas, I can help you improve your singing in a variety of genres, including pop, contemporary worship, and musical theater. I work successfully with students at all levels, from absolute beginners to emerging professionals.

If you…

– Find yourself straining your voice when you sing
– Need to sing in a healthier, more sustainable way
– Wish to boost your confidence as a performer

Or if you…

– Want to advance your vocal technique to express yourself artistically
– Are preparing to audition for choirs, theater, or college music programs

And if you…

– Are a worship leader seeking to sing more freely and for longer without vocal strain
– Need guidance on the mental aspects of performance

Perhaps you’re…

– Auditioning for an opera company or a musical theater role – Looking for diction coaching in Italian, German, French, or Spanish
– Preparing for a classical art song recital or seeking advice on building a successful recital
– In need of dramatic or interpretive coaching

I’m here to help!

My teaching emphasizes healthy vocal production, ease, and freedom in singing.

With a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance, extensive stage experience, and post-graduate study with renowned vocal pedagogue Shirlee Emmons and international opera singer Rosa Vento, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my students.

Voice lessons are typically 60 minutes long, with the first portion focused on vocal exercises and technique, followed by work on your chosen repertoire.

I teach from my home studio in Sarasota, Florida, and also offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom. If you’re looking for precise, technical instruction delivered with care and compassion, I’d love to help you achieve your musical goals.

Reach out today to schedule your first lesson, and we’ll see if we’re a good match!

Google Reviews from current and former students:

“I have experienced working with Martha not only as a student, but also collaboratively as a composer. She is an absolute joy. As a teacher, she encourages and adapts to different learning styles to teach her students how to teach and help themselves grow in their skills. As a fellow artist, Martha really invests in the projects she believes in. She does everything in her power to do justice to the message of a piece of music, and everyone I’ve seen her work with has had a wonderful time with it. I can’t speak highly enough of my dear Ms. Lopez.” – N.C.

“Martha is an incredible Opera Singer also gifted with the ability to teach. Martha goes beyond an average instructor who masters their own talent and simple pass it on to others, rather she is also able to identify potential, hidden gifts in students and bring them all to life.” – V.T.

“I took voice lessons with Martha for 3 years with a focus on art song and opera arias. As a teacher she was able to meet me where I was at in my vocal development from a pretty early beginner to a preparing for university auditions and performing a 20 minute recital. During lessons Martha is encouraging and kind while employing her vocal knowledge in order to provide effective constructive criticism which allowed me to develop my skills over the course of my lessons with her. She was always realistic about my skill level and assigned appropriate material for me to work on. She is also a very competent pianist so she is able to accompany students during lessons for the full experience. All around Martha is a wonderful teacher who I would highly recommend!” – E.A.
