About Voice Lessons

Whether you’re singing for the first time, returning to music after a long break, or simply looking to grow as a musician, voice lessons can help you sing with greater confidence, freedom, and expression. I specialize in teaching adult students, many of them accomplished individuals returning to music after full careers, and I tailor every lesson to your goals, interests, and pace.

While opera and classical music are my primary performance specialties, I also work with singers interested in musical theater, contemporary worship, and popular styles.

Lessons take place in my private home studio in Sarasota—a peaceful, unhurried space designed for focus. Many of my students tell me this quiet, personal setting is part of what makes lessons feel less like a task and more like a welcome pause in the week.

My teaching emphasizes healthy vocal production, efficiency, freedom, and expressive communication. Lessons are tailored to your individual goals and designed to help you build a voice that is both technically reliable and artistically authentic.

With a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance, extensive performance experience, and advanced study with respected voice teachers and pedagogues, I bring both practical knowledge and proven teaching experience to every lesson. Voice lessons are typically 60 minutes in length, and most students meet weekly at a consistent day and time. Many students study using a lesson package rather than paying lesson by lesson—a rhythm that tends to suit those who value steady, ongoing progress.  We begin with vocal exercises and technique, then apply those concepts directly to your repertoire so that healthy singing becomes a natural part of performance.

Martha Ana Lopez is a lyric coloratura soprano, recording artist, and educator with over 30 years of teaching experience. She has performed nationally in recital and served for fourteen years on the voice faculty at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.
